What is Wrong with Me?

Problems and Difficulties

Many people experience difficulties in everyday life. These include mental health problems, emotional health or wellbeing difficulties. Almost everyone experience stress at work, relationship difficulties and worries. For many people this can include Anxiety and Depression and other common mental health problems such as phobias, Obsessional Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Social Anxiety. A few people can experience more serious disorders.

What can I do about It?

Coping techniques

There are many things that people can do to help themselves. Often the most effective are quite basic. Here is a list of ten things that can start the self help process.

  • Talk about your feelings
  • Keep active
  • Eat well
  • Drink sensibly
  • Keep in touch with friends and family
  • Ask for help
  • Take a break
  • Do something you enjoy or are good at
  • Accept yourself
  • Care for others

Getting Help

Help yourself!

The first stage of getting better is to realise that there are many things you can do to help your self. PLease have a look at our self help section.

Talk to someone you trust.

Often when we have worries or problems we tend to keep them to ourselves. Talking to a friend, family member or partner can really be useful. They care about us and may be keen to listen and help. The process of explaining our worries to someone can help us understand them better ourselves. Sometimes it helps to talk to someone we can trust who is not immediate family but knows us. A good example of this would be a work mate or colleague or a faith leader.
